Description
The rocky cliff entrance to Boscastle harbour on the treacherous North Cornwall Atlantic coast, SW England, UK. A coastguard lookout sits atop the left clifftop. The village and harbour were subject to flash floods up to 9 feet deep on 16 August 2004 when cars, businesses and homes were destroyed and swept out to sea. Rapid response of the emergency services including RAF helicopter evacuation prevented any serious injuries or loss of life. Only one broken thumb was recorded.
