Description
The River Looe and its steep valley divides the towns of East and West Looe before flowing to the sea on the picturesque coast of South Cornwall, SW England, UK. The small coastal town and fishing port centres around a small harbour and both sides are connected by the current bridge built in 1853 and on which this image is taken. It is thought that settlement in the area dates back to at least 1,000 B.C. shown by local hill forts. Historically, aside from the traditional fishing (especially pilchards and crabs) and boat building industries it became an important port for exporting tin, arsenic and granite from local mines and quarries, then later the textile industry. Taken on a bright Spring day one April.
