Description
Interesting boat wrecks in the marshy mud flats of the tidal River Torridge estuary near East-the-Water, North Devon, SW England, UK. This was taken early evening in April. The sky was overcast and diffused the light creating a desaturated landscape which seemed to complement the wonderful textures and colours of the bleached and weathered wood of the decaying beached hulks. Decaying light and decaying boats or fading light and fading paint or fading glory... gradually the wrecks are returning to nature, perhaps to become buried and the archaeology of the future. I also liked the details of the casually coiled and draped rope and the rusting metal fixings. The town across the river is Bideford with the new road bridge just visible in the far background.
