Description
The rugged beauty of Hartland Quay holds a fascination. The ancient chevron folded and faulted rocks change with the light, weather and temperament of the sea. Every visit is different. Man has battled for years with the elements here. The historic quay has long since washed away in storms. Just beyond the treacherous fingers of rock lies Hartland Point with its lighthouse. There are many local shipwreck sites and stories of wreckers luring unsuspecting ships onto the rocks to plunder their cargoes. Parts of wrecks can still be seen at certain tides. The hiking is amazing along the coastal path. North Devon, SW England, UK.
