Description
A brief glimpse of autumn sunshine highlights the patchwork fields and rugged beauty of the dramatic North Cornwall coast at Crackington Haven. The view is taken looking back from the coastal path approaching Cam Beak headland. It shows the remote, boulder strewn Tremoutha Haven beach in the foreground. Access to Tremoutha is difficult and is really only safe close to certain low tides and during favourable weather conditions. The remains of a German E-Boat wreck (Schnellboot S89) from 1946 are still visible at low tide at Tremoutha. The prop shaft and engine can just be seen faintly in the lower middle part of the beach in this image. The far headland is Pencannow Point (also known locally as Penkenna) whilst the smaller intermediate headland is Bray Point which has some large caves.
