Description
The wide expanse of Perran or Ligger Bay and beach at Perranporth, Atlantic coast, North Cornwall, SW England, UK. The view is taken near Droskyn Point looking along Perran Bay past Chapel Rock and Cotty's Point towards Ligger Point and Penhale Point beyond. Carter's and Gull Rocks, just off Holywell Bay, are visible on the horizon, far left. These two prominent rock islands often feature in the TV series adaptation of the Poldark novels by Winston Graham. The bay is backed by the sand dune systems of Penhale Sands which have famously buried the ancient St Piran's Oratory. Taken on a fine November morning.
