Description
The deserted, remote beauty of Welcombe Mouth north Devon is one of my closest beaches near the Cornish border. The light picks out the amazing geology of the wave cut platform. Millennia of uplifting, folding, faulting and erosion of the rock strata has resulted in the near vertical tortured remnants that you can see today. This stretch of coast was notoriously treacherous and led to many shipwrecks and legends of wreckers that lured ships to their watery graves on the rocks.
