Description
Virworthy Wharf on the long disused Bude Canal in North Cornwall, now part of a heritage aqueduct trail. The unusual canal, active from 1823 to 1891 used inclined planes and brought mineral rich sand from Summerleaze beach at Bude to improve the poor soils of the hinterlands. This branch was a feeder for the canal system, taking water from nearby Lower Tamar Lake. Taken in spring several years ago.
