Trees by Chimney Rock high on cliffs on the Devon side of the River Tamar Valley, SW England, UK. The valley was a world leading tin, copper, lead, silver and arsenic ore mining and transporting area, This place was a popular Sunday picnic spot for the Victorian workers and families and pleasure outings. The once industrial steep river valley cliffs, spoil heaps and old mine buildings and quays are being reclaimed by nature forming extensive woodland. More recently the area has been designated an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and is part of the UNESCO West Devon and Cornwall Mining World Heritage Industrial Landscape. Leisure trails have been established along former mine trails and mineral railway tracks of the mines. The River Tamar is the county boundary between Devon and Cornwall. Taken in October.
