Description
Looking back up the steep cobbled main street (Up-Along) at Clovelly in the late afternoon sun. Clovelly is a unique ancient fishing village clinging to the precipitous cliffs of north Devon. The quaint fisherman's cottages tumble down the hillside in a higgledy-piggledy fashion. Cars are not allowed down the street and sledges are used to haul goods and groceries up & down by residents.

Love old towns...You are lucky to live close to the coast...
Richard Brookes replied:
Hi Ursula, thanks for your comment. Yes I'm lucky, about 5 miles away from sea. Can also see Dartmoor (setting for Sherlock Holmes & Hound of The Baskervilles) about 20 miles away from here. Love old places too. We've also medieval / Norman castles at Launceston, Tintagel (legendary birthplace of King Arthur) and Okehampton nearby. Our place supposed to date back to sixteenth century. Still some old thatched cottages around here too. :o)
