Description
This large emerald moth (Geometra papilionaria) visited our garden here on the North Devon and Cornwall border, England, UK. I don't think I had ever seen one before or perhaps I had just not noticed. I took shots from ground level rather than the standard wings view from above. This required some careful crawling about so as not too disturb this beautiful insect. It is a whole new, almost alien world at this macro level.

Wow - what amazingly vibrant colours! Incredible. So fortunate that you were in the right place at the right time! Fabulous image!
Richard Brookes replied:
Thank you Debbie, appreciate your comment. I'm pleased you like it. It took me by surprise when I first saw it as I'd never seen one before - then there's that moment of desperation when rushing to get your camera hoping it hasn't flown away. I was lucky that day! :)

Great capture! What a fun creature.

Thank you Nina. It's great isn't it?! It was literally on my doorstep. I hadn't seen one before & I haven't seen one since.
