Description
A beautiful tiny fawn coloured Dartmoor pony foal enjoys the early morning Autumn sunshine on the moor near Princetown, Devon, southwest England, UK. An icon of Dartmoor, adult ponies grow to around 45-50 inches (114-127cm). This foal was about half that size. The small sturdy breed is known for being hardy and for its amiable nature. Ponies have been used since medieval times to assist miners on the moor. The breed can exist in the harsh moorland climate. Nearby Princetown, famous for its prison built to house Napoleonic prisoners of war and still in use today, is considered to be the wettest place in England. Taken in September.
